MEDIA LITERACY AND CRITICAL THINKING IN THE AGE OF AI

Course purpose and overview

Media literacy today requires far more than understanding newspapers, videos, or social media posts. In an era shaped by artificial intelligence, algorithms, and rapid information flows, educators need the skills to help students navigate misinformation, evaluate digital content, and think critically about the media they consume and create.
This course introduces teachers to the foundations of media literacy, critical thinking, and AI‑generated content. Participants explore how information is produced, how algorithms shape what we see, and how to teach students to question sources, verify facts, and recognise bias. You will engage in practical activities, case studies, and discussions, discover best practices, and understand why media literacy is essential for democratic participation and responsible digital citizenship.
